My name is László Faltay, and I design and manufacture cargo bikes in Budapest.

I graduated as a mechanical engineer and then as a welding engineer at the Budapest University of Technology and Economics, writing my thesis on welding and bicycle frame materials. I worked for several bicycle manufacturers in Hungary and the Czech Republic, building cargo bikes as well as titanium and carbon road bikes. I then combined my experience in my own business, Duna Cycles. Why Duna? The river Danube, with its constant flow, represents stability for those of us who grew up alongside it.

I have been manufacturing bicycle frames since 2008. In the beginning, under the name Zuglói Kerékpárművek, high bikes, tandems, and other special bikes rolled out of the workshop.

In 2016, I built the world’s first stainless steel cargo bike, as this material makes it easier to build bikes.

Our Long John cargo bike model was launched in 2019. We designed it to be a versatile, indestructible machine at an irresistible price. We have been continuously developing the Teleporter ever since. Our primary goal is to show that Hungarian small businesses can compete with capital-rich manufacturers, so we do as much as we can in-house and purchase raw materials from local manufacturers and distributors.
